About Microstead

Hi, I'm Kolby Graham.

I created Microstead because I believe everyone should have access to practical food knowledge, regardless of how much land they own or where they live. Growing food doesn't have to be complicated, expensive, or reserved for people with large homesteads. Sometimes all it takes is a willingness to start and a simple system to build upon.

I hold an Associate's degree in Agriculture Business, Leadership, and Education and currently work in urban agriculture, where I've had the opportunity to help grow food, manage systems, and learn firsthand about the challenges and opportunities facing modern growers. Through my experiences, I've become increasingly passionate about helping people reconnect with food production and discover that building resilience can start right in their own backyard, patio, or apartment.

Microstead was born from a simple idea: helping ordinary people create practical, self-sustaining food systems that fit their space, schedule, budget, and goals. Whether you're planting your first container garden, learning how to grow microgreens, or dreaming about a more resilient lifestyle, my goal is to make the process approachable and enjoyable.

At its heart, Microstead is an educational project. I share growing knowledge, practical systems, and beginner-friendly resources designed to help people take meaningful steps toward producing more of their own food. Over time, I hope Microstead grows into a place that also offers digital guides, personalized guidance, systems blueprints, and tools that help people make better decisions about growing food.

I'm also fascinated by the future of agriculture. I believe traditional growing practices and emerging technologies can work together to make food production more efficient, accessible, and sustainable. As Microstead develops, I look forward to exploring how smart tools, automation, and artificial intelligence may help individuals and small growers build stronger food systems.

For now, Microstead is about learning, sharing, experimenting, and helping others get started. If you're curious about growing food, building resilience, or simply taking the first step toward a more self-sufficient lifestyle, I'm glad you're here.

Let's build something worth growing.
